The UK’s deportation plan for asylum seekers to be sent to Rwanda may take longer than expected, a spokesperson for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Tuesday. This is because the government faces legal challenges on a policy for migrants crossing the Channel.
It might be months before the first flights carrying migrants from Britain to Rwanda leave, the spokesperson added.
“We have received pre-action correspondence. Those legal challenges obviously may be a factor that can mean it takes longer to implement the policy,” the spokesperson said.
