Many artists often find themselves working long hours without much of a reward. Making a living as an artist is a challenging endeavor, and not everyone understands the craftsmanship, time, and effort that goes into the making of each art piece. However, with the increasing popularity of NFTs, artists now have an avenue to create unique and collectible pieces that people are willing to invest in. Amber Marie, the artist behind Klepto Bears, is one of the most recent artists to delve into the world of digital art and investing.
Klepto Bears come in 10,000 different forms. Designed in 2D, it recalls the art style of the past and is filled with other nostalgic references to past TV shows, movies, books, and pop culture moments. Children often make up stories about their toys and stuffed animals, creating adventures and experiences for these inanimate objects. These digital bears offer everyone a chance to reconnect with their childhood memories and imaginations. Each bear comes with elements from the past that paint a picture of the lives these bears lived. Much like childhood toys, these bears have a story, and it is depicted in each token.
Created by Amber Marie, the Klepto Bears were inspired by her favorite childhood treasure: her teddy bear. Given to her by her grandmother, Amber Marie went on playful adventures with her bear. The stories and media from her childhood inform the stories she crafts for each Klepto Bear.
Drawn to visual arts from a young age, Amber Marie could not recall a moment where she did not have a pencil and paper in hand. She was constantly drawing elements from her dreams or making still-life studies of the things she found around her house. When college no longer felt like a good fit for her, Amber left and found the freedom to pursue her craft more organically. Arriving in Las Vegas, she found her calling and started working in the photography scene doing makeup and body art.
Amber Marie’s style is distinct. She uses a lot of bold colors and contrasts them with texture, intricate line work and fine details.
In the midst of the pandemic, when the body art industry slowed down, she found herself at Graffiti Mansion. There she met Arman Izadi and Danny Lorden, who took it upon themselves to teach her the art of spray paint and walls. They saw Amber’s potential as a graffiti artist and cultivated her skills.
The team behind Graffiti Mansion has supported artists who wanted to get into NFTs before, so it comes as no surprise that they threw their support behind Amber and the Klepto Bears project. The project came together intending to create 10,000 bears, where every 1,000th bear becomes a vault and comes with a loot box. Arman contributed 100,000 dollars towards the loot boxes, giving Amber the support she needed to create in-demand NFTs. With a prize pool worth $100,000 for owners of bears to win for each 1,000th NFT that gets sold. All the prizes are embedded in vaults which are all open when the collection sells out. The prizes include items like iPhone 13 for Mint #1,000, iPadPro for Mint #2,000, LG TV for Mint #3,000, PlayStation 5 for Mint #4,000, Xbox X for Mint #5,000, Macbook Pro for Mint #6,000, Versace Robe for Mint #7,000, LV Backpack for Mint #8,000, Rolex for Mint #9,000 and Tesla for Mint #10,000.
