Community groups are seizing this opportunity to spotlight various causes. The “No to APEC” Coalition is at the forefront, organizing an alternative event dubbed the People’s Counter Summit. In a recent display of activism, the Palestinian Youth Movement was instrumental in arranging a demonstration supporting Palestinian rights.
The “No to APEC” Coalition, in collaboration with the Palestinian Youth Movement, has announced another protest scheduled for November 12, as detailed on their online platform. Will Wiltschko, representing the California Trade Justice Coalition, has disclosed plans for a protest concerning the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework prior to the APEC Summit.
The November 12 protest, termed the “Shut Down APEC Mass Mobilization,” is set to commence at Embarcadero Plaza, culminating in a march to the vicinity of the Moscone Center.
The SF Chronicle has reported assurances from the Secret Service that demonstrations will be permitted in areas not subject to restrictions. The Secret Service, in conjunction with local law enforcement, has been preparing for larger-scale demonstrations.
