The dry-cleaning industry is now undergoing a period of transformation. Advances in technology and shifting customer expectations are redefining how convenience, efficiency, and sustainability intersect in garment care.
Founded in 1996, Miami-based Sudsies Dry Cleaners has become one of the industry’s early adopters of integrated technology while maintaining its primary focus on customer service quality. It has since expanded beyond conventional methods by introducing digital systems, automation, and specialized services while maintaining the standards expected in high-end garment care.
A significant component of Sudsies’ operational infrastructure is the SMRT system, an all-in-one software platform used widely across the industry. The system automates order management, tracking, customer notifications, payment processing, and route coordination. By centralizing these functions, SMRT enables faster communication, fewer errors, and improved workflow efficiency from drop-off to delivery.
SMRT also plays a central role in Sudsies’ delivery network. The team manages routes with logistics software that optimizes scheduling, reduces fuel usage, and helps maintain reliable pickup and delivery times. Online systems allow customers to track their orders and receive updates at each stage of the process, improving communication and transparency.
Sudsies also uses high-end equipment such as Metalprogetti, an automated assembly and sorting system designed to streamline garment organization and packaging. These systems allow for greater accuracy, reduced manual handling, and improved turnaround times. Together, combined with the other top-of-the-line technologies Sudsies employs, the SMRT system and Metalprogetti equipment create a more efficient operational environment while supporting the precision required for handling delicate and luxury fabrics.
In 2022, Sudsies introduced Automated Dry-Cleaning Machines (ADMs), which provide customers with 24-hour drop-off and pick-up access and run on the Metalprogetti system. The ADMs allow users to deposit or collect garments at any time, offering expanded flexibility beyond standard business hours. The machines operate through a secure interface linked to the Sudsies’ digital management system. Once garments are processed, customers receive automated notifications and can retrieve their items at their convenience. This reflects a broader shift across service industries toward automation and self-service options.
Sudsies’ behind-the-scenes equipment lineup also includes Miele wet-cleaning machines, known for their programmable cycles, controlled drum movement, and specialized detergents that allow for safe, effective cleaning of sensitive and high-end fabrics. These advanced machines help maintain the integrity of delicate materials while ensuring a thorough, eco-friendly clean.
To bridge the gap between local boutique care and national accessibility, the team also launched Sudsies Express, a parcel-based service designed for customers outside South Florida. Through partnerships with major logistics providers such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, and the United States Postal Service, customers across the country can send garments to Sudsies for professional cleaning and restoration. Items received through Sudsies Express undergo the same inspection, cleaning, and finishing protocols as those brought to physical locations.
Sudsies continues to invest in both innovation and physical infrastructure. Its 14,500-square-foot dry- and wet-cleaning facility features modern equipment that uses eco-friendly solvents and automated controls to regulate temperature, water use, and chemical balance. These systems help ensure consistency while reducing environmental impact.
Although automation and software play a significant role in operations, craftsmanship and personal touch remain central to the Sudsies’ approach. Employees handle inspection, stain treatment, and finishing with attention to detail that reflects traditional garment-care principles. Technology supports these efforts but does not replace the expertise required for high-quality cleaning.
The evolution of Sudsies Dry Cleaners clearly illustrates how digitization and automation can seamlessly modernize a traditional industry while preserving its primary emphasis on quality and exceptional customer-focused service. Through the combined use of digital logistics platforms, high-performance equipment, and advanced software systems, Sudsies presents a forward-thinking model for the future of garment care; one focused on accessibility, efficiency, sustainability, and long-term environmental responsibility.
