Ramin poured his newfound knowledge into online courses and published a book on back pain in 2020, establishing himself as a back pain expert. However, his online courses faced a significant challenge—participant engagement and completion rates were low. This realization fueled his determination to find more effective ways to assist those suffering from back pain.

“I realized that while my courses were informative, they lacked the hands-on, real-time feedback that people needed to make lasting changes to their posture and, ultimately, their health,” he explains.

During this exploration, Ramin met Benjamin Holmer, the CEO of MinkTec GmbH. Founded in 2019 in Brunswick, Germany, as a spin-off from the Technical University Brunswick, MinkTec’s innovative sensor strip could precisely measure movement. However, they had not yet found an impactful application for this breakthrough technology.

Recognizing the potential synergy between his extensive expertise in back pain and posture, and MinkTec’s cutting-edge technology, Ramin collaborated with the team to create rectify. The result was a smart shirt equipped with a sensor strip, designed to both track and train posture. rectify was born—a solution that combined technological innovation with expert knowledge to address a critical health issue.

“Our mission with this smart shirt is to help people alleviate back pain and improve posture, enabling them to lead healthier, longer, and more fulfilling lives,” says Ramin Waraghai, the visionary behind rectify.

“The technology we use is highly sophisticated, yet the user experience remains intuitive and simple,” explains Tom Schröder, mechanical engineer and one of MinkTec’s co-founders. “The smart shirt provides instant feedback, which is crucial for making immediate adjustments and fostering long-term habits.” “A well-aligned body supports both physical ease and psychological well-being,” Ramin articulates, underscoring the holistic benefits of good posture.

Since its inception, rectify has already made a significant impact in Germany. Users have reported noticeable improvements in posture and a reduction in back pain, which has positively affected their quality of life.

“I’ve tried countless products and therapies for my back pain, but rectify is the first to provide real, lasting relief,” says one satisfied user. “The real-time feedback is a game-changer.”

“Our long-term vision is to make rectify a global standard for posture training and back pain management,” Ramin shares. “We’re constantly investing in R&D to enhance the technology and expand our offerings. Future iterations of the smart shirt might include features like muscle activation monitoring and even more advanced analytics.”

The Team Behind the Innovation

MinkTec GmbH is the technological powerhouse behind rectify. Their sensor strip technology laid the foundation for the smart shirt’s development. By joining forces with Ramin, in 2022 rectify was born, and by 2023, the company secured its first seed funding to bring this vision to life.

Currently, rectify is primarily promoted in Germany, but exciting expansion plans are on the horizon. Under Ramin’s leadership, the company aims to disrupt the U.S. market by the end of 2024. To support this ambitious move, MinkTec is in the process of raising seed funding.
