In today’s realm of rock’ n roll, where dreams often fade and only the toughest survive, Electric Mud stands as a testament to grit, passion, and the unbreakable bonds of brotherhood. Formed in 2009 by brothers Marc and Matty Hansen, the band’s journey is a saga of resilience, camaraderie, and raw musical talent that has spanned years and crossed state lines.

Electric Mud’s story took a pivotal turn in 2013 when Colton Cori joined the band, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Colton, a guitarist, met Marc and Matty in the Navy after the band relocated to California. With original members AJ Parascandola and Dave Stagno unable to make the move, Colton’s entry injected fresh energy into the group. The band’s formation wasn’t just about finding new members; it was about discovering a shared vision and a collective drive to uphold the high standards of rock ‘n roll.

The path to success has been anything but smooth. Like many musicians, Electric Mud faced the harsh reality of balancing dreams with financial necessities. Colton reflects on the constant inner battle of making ends meet while pursuing their passion. The challenge of finding balance between day jobs and night gigs was a relentless struggle. Yet, through it all, the band leaned on each other, drawing strength from the shared hardships and the unwavering support of their fans.

What truly sets Electric Mud apart is their unwavering work ethic. From showing up early to gigs, ensuring smooth transitions on and off stage, to maximizing their studio time, the band has always prided itself on professionalism. Their meticulous approach has earned them respect from venues and studio engineers alike. The dedication to their craft extends beyond just playing music; it’s about the behind-the-scenes grind that most people overlook. The band’s unique 2-to-1 technician-to-van ratio, ensuring meticulous and factory-standard installations, speaks volumes about their commitment to quality.

The band’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. Electric Mud has racked up several accolades, including multiple San Diego Music Awards and the International Singer-Songwriter Association Band of the Year. Their crowning achievement, however, came when they opened for The Rolling Stones in Glendale, Arizona, during the Hackney Diamonds Tour. It’s a career highlight that underscores their talent and the respect they’ve garnered within the industry.

At the heart of Electric Mud’s music is a deep, almost mystical connection between the band members. Colton describes how their Dangerous Promises album was born out of an impromptu session in Portland, with no pre-rehearsed songs. Within a few days, they had an entire album—a testament to their unique musical chemistry. The band’s ability to spontaneously create music speaks to the genuine brotherhood they’ve formed over the years. It’s this bond that fuels their creative process and drives their commitment to rock ‘n roll as an art form.

Electric Mud’s journey is a collection of compelling stories and pivotal moments. Each member has faced personal and professional challenges, yet they’ve always pulled together as a unit. Colton recounts how cousin Matt Sorena learned all the band’s songs in a short time, showcasing his skill and dedication. When Matt left, Phil Narmada stepped in on bass with just weeks’ notice, plucking away at his instrument in the back of a van during tours. These moments of resilience and adaptability highlight the band’s ability to overcome obstacles and evolve.

Pushing forward, Electric Mud remains steadfast in their mission. They aim to continue recording and playing live shows, seizing every opportunity that comes their way. Their dream is to be remembered as a band that did it right, contributing to rock ‘n roll history just like the legends before them. The band’s philosophy, inspired by the belief that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond, is embedded in their culture. This mindset has guided them through challenges and continues to drive their success.

Electric Mud’s story is far from over. They are still writing new chapters, facing challenges, and pushing the boundaries of their music. Colton hopes that one day, people will dive into their story and music, appreciating the journey they’ve been on. It’s a journey defined by hard work, unwavering dedication, and a brotherhood that transcends the ordinary.

In the end, Electric Mud is more than just a band; they are a testament to the enduring spirit of rock ‘n roll. Their story is one of perseverance, camaraderie, and the relentless pursuit of a dream. As they continue to rock stages and record new music, one thing is clear: Electric Mud is here to stay, and their legacy is just beginning.
