Mark Minard is a successful entrepreneur, best-selling author, and podcast host of Elevating Beyond. His dedication to everything he touches has allowed him to make a difference in the lives of millions of people over the years. Most would assume that things were always smooth sailing for him because of his many achievements, but that wasn’t the case. Long before becoming the founder of Dreamshine, a business that focuses on helping special needs adults, he spent time in jail.
Coming from the struggle himself, Mark ended up in jail at the early age of 17. However, he was lucky enough to grow from the experience and change his mindset for the better while realizing that jail was the last place he wanted to be in life. So, on a quest to make a change for himself and others and while collaborating with his sister, he came up with the idea of starting Dreamshine. The company has since operated for 15 years, providing convenient services to special needs adults, such as life skills training and programs.
“I’ve always loved helping people, even before my time in jail. When I started to think of what I wanted to do to turn my life around while giving back to my community, the idea for Dreamshine came about. When my sister and I first envisioned this business, we never could’ve imagined how successful it would become. Our goal was to help those in need, but we’ve managed to make such an impact over the past 15 years and will continue to do so,” shared Minard.
Mark’s caring and nurturing nature helped him shape the company into what it has become today, where adults with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to explore and learn new and exciting things each day. From herb gardens to fish ponds, cooking classes, hands-on learning activities, games, and more, Dreamshine offers endless opportunities to adults of all ages with special needs. And while the company has had such success, Mark credits that success to good leadership.
“Starting a business is one thing, but there is much more to it than that. First, you have to become an excellent leader, or else your business will fail. I’ve honed in on my leadership skills to guide my team and provide the best experiences to our clients. It’s safe to say that good leadership has helped to mold our company into the success it has become, where we’re physically seeing the positive impact our programs have on our clients,” said Minard. “It’s also the reason that I decided to write my book and start a podcast. Not only do I want to continue running a successful business that changes lives, but I also want to share my knowledge with others. I want to help people become great leaders so that they can make a difference, provide excellent customer service, and see the fruits of their labor come to fruition.”
