Lucas Munoz: New School Songwriter and Instrumentalist Rules the Central Florida Music Scene

Like any form of art, music is subject to personal interpretation, and every individual’s ability to relate to the message depends on the lyrical content of every song. Lucas Munoz ventured into music not only because he is a talented singer or songwriter but also because he believes music is the only channel through which he can tell his story and to inspire and encourage an entire generation of listeners to not give up on their dreams or let their challenges define them. One EP into his music journey, Lucas slowly makes his way up the music industry’s food chain.

Although originally a New Jersey native, now based in Central Florida, Lucas Munoz is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter held as the music industry’s fresh-faced game-changer. Before taking up a career in music, Lucas has always been involved in music, having become an adept instrumentalist as young as four. At the time, he learned to play the guitar from his father, a professional guitarist.

Growing up around music gave him a passion for music for the rest of his childhood. Lucas displayed his music prowess through performances in church and participation in the local choir during his early school years. Soon, as he flourished musically, his academics began to suffer, and he became a victim of targeted bullying due to his weight.  He described this moment as the darkest of his life and recalled music as the only saving grace he had. By the time he was 14 years old, he had chosen to explore music as his means of escape from bullies and pursue the craft professionally.

“I was bullied a lot in school when I was younger for not fitting in,” he shared. “Music became the only outlet that I found to help me drown out all my pain. It took me years through music therapy and seeking help to play the pain away through my guitar and my songs.”

Cracking the periphery of the underground music for the next few years, he moved to Florida in 2010, and this awakened a realization in the then-teenager. He decided to hone his craft and become the best at what he does. Thanks to several hours of watching and listening to his musical influences like lead guitarists such as Joe Bonamassa, Slash, Gary Moore, and Eric Johnson, he became unstoppable. Lucas Munoz currently writes, records, and produces music at his home studio and is a guitarist for artists in the Tampa Bay area. While upholding his authenticity as a songwriter, producer, and performer, Lucas serves his church playing guitar in the worship team on weekends. Lucas graduated with his Bachelor of Business Administration in 2018 and his Master of Business Administration in 2020 from Warner University.

In 2018, Lucas delved fully into the South Florida jazz scene, having studied the genre. Perfecting his versatility over the years, he could create music by combining numerous genres of music. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, while being holed up at home like the rest of the world, Lucas recorded and released his debut EP, “Mutasis.” It is a body of work containing his musical influences with a touch of every genre and sound he enjoys listening to, such as dark pop, hip-hop, alternative, blues, and rock.Learn more about Lucas Munoz and stream his EP via his website.
