Rudy Kusuma on Developing a Real Estate Empire that Bears a Strong Name

All business owners understand the value of choosing a brand name that will carry the identity and principles of a product. Entrepreneur Rudy Kusuma fully grasps the importance of establishing a solid name that will stand the test of time and represent his business principles. Rudy Kusuma has been in the business long enough to understand that doing things by the book does not always translate to success. Throughout the course of his colorful and productive career in business, he realized that the only way to make his empire work was to learn how to work with teams. He bid his old approaches when he first got his real estate license in 2007 farewell. He tried the traditional cold-calling and knocking on doors. If he learned a very important lesson at that time, it was that these two approaches never worked for him. Thanks to his newfound tool, he was able to effectively turn things around. 

“If you’re a one-person show and you think you can do all these jobs, you’re going to burn out. Machines don’t get sick, but people do,” Kusuma shared. “I know I’ve said it before, but I always think I need to repeat it: the solo agent model is impossible.”

Another unique approach that helped boost Your Home Sold Guaranteed Realty was his reverse prospecting approach, where he let potential investors come to him instead of pursuing them relentlessly. His game plan at that time was quite simple – he organized game nights for investors and watched until his clientele grew significantly. Interestingly, his approach worked, and the rest was history. “Because we focus on reverse prospecting, our focus is only on serving the client,” he added. “Most real estate agents spend 70-80-percent of their time prospecting, but that’s not normal for most other industries. I started to figure out how to attract customers instead of chasing them.”
