Martha’s Vineyard, MA, May 7, 2024 – As Juneteenth celebrations grow in prominence nationwide, the ASALH Martha’s Vineyard Branch is hosting a one-of-a-kind event featuring Demola the Violinist. On June 19, 2024, at 5:00 PM, the Martha’s Vineyard Museum will come alive with the sounds of this virtuoso’s violin, offering a blend of African rhythms, classical music, and contemporary flair.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is a significant holiday that marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It is a day filled with reflection, education, and celebration. This year, the ASALH Martha’s Vineyard Branch is celebrating with a performance by Demola, the Violinist known for his unique ability to blend classical and contemporary music.

Demola’s performances are characterized by dynamic energy and emotional depth. His music weaves together elements of African rhythms, classical compositions, and contemporary genres such as hip-hop and R&B. This fusion creates a sound that is both innovative and deeply resonant, capturing the essence of Juneteenth’s spirit of freedom and celebration.

“We are honored to host Demola the Violinist for our Juneteenth celebration,” said Thelma Johnson, President of ASALH Martha’s Vineyard Branch. “His music embodies the rich cultural heritage of African Americans while also pushing the boundaries of traditional genres. We believe that his performance will provide a unique and inspiring experience for our attendees.”

The Black & White Annual Fundraiser is one of the most anticipated events hosted by ASALH. It is an elegant affair that brings together community leaders, supporters, and enthusiasts to celebrate African Americans’ rich history and cultural heritage. This year’s event promises to be particularly special, with Demola’s performance serving as the highlight of the evening.

Attendees can expect an immersive experience as Demola takes them on a musical journey that transcends boundaries and unites listeners in a celebration of artistry and expression. From classical compositions to modern interpretations, Demola’s performance promises to resonate with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

In addition to the musical performance, the evening will feature various other activities to celebrate African American culture and history. Presentations highlighting ASALH’s work and impact on the community will be presented, and attendees will have opportunities to learn more about the organization’s mission and initiatives.

The event will also serve as a fundraising opportunity to support the vital work of ASALH Martha’s Vineyard Branch. The funds raised will help support various programs and initiatives to promote the study, research, and dissemination of African American history and culture. These initiatives foster greater understanding and appreciation of African American societal contributions.

Tickets can be purchased through the ASALH event page for those interested in attending. The organizers encourage booking in advance, as the event is expected to sell out quickly.
