Keith Ross Nelson on Comedy and Aging Like Fine Wine

Aging and growing older is no joke, but comedian Keith Ross Nelson often uses his age and experiences to make people laugh. With a career in comedy spanning over three decades, he is proof that growing old does not equate to slowing down and letting go of dreams. 

Keith Ross Nelson has performed his comedy act in all fifty states in the United States and several international locations. What makes him unique in the industry is that he often makes himself the butt of his own jokes. Keith often jokes about getting older.   Keith wants his shows to shed light on the journey and how people should look at it with humor and grace. 

With a fresh, calm, and hip demeanor onstage, most audiences can relate to Keith Ross Nelson.  This comedian has incredible talent and skill in captivating audiences and capturing their attention while making them laugh at the simplest things. 

Keith Ross Nelson has performed at various comedy clubs, college events, and cruise ships. He has also landed roles in movies including The R.M. and Mobsters and Mormons and shows like Hulu’s Comedy Time and Comedy Express I. This comedian’s successful career has opened other doors for him in the entertainment industry, such as writing, directing, and producing films, television shows, and live events. Aside from his stand-up events, Keith Ross Nelson also serves as the director, co-writer, and star of the show Electives and the Amazon Prime show Not for Nothin’.

Prior to Keith Ross Nelson’s career as a comedian, he was a multi-awarded athlete. In 1998, Keith finished second in the Masters World Championships, and he has won three National Championships in Masters High-Jumping. In addition, he ranked number 1 for outdoor high-jumping in 2000 and indoor high-jumping in 2006. Aside from these awards, Keith also held the Masters High Jump record for his age group from 200 to 2007. 

But high-jumping is not Keith’s only sport. He is also a martial artist, specifically practicing kung fu. At 45 years old, he earned a third-degree black belt in kung fu, and he is working to earn his fourth-degree belt. 

Keith Ross Nelson is a man with impressive records in athletics and comedy. He shared, “I have done my best in my two passions: athletics and comedy. I feel fulfilled about doing my best in two areas I genuinely love.” 

His colorful life serves as inspiration for his comedy sketches and his writing. By being unapologetic about who he truly is, Keith Ross Nelson hopes to inspire people to embrace all the different facets of their personalities. “There are many sides to everyone. I want people to see me and be spurred to pursue their dreams, passions, and goals,” Keith said. 

Keith Ross Nelson is a man who loves what he does for a living.
